2024 Nurse Pulse Survey
Every other year, AMN Healthcare takes the temperature of the nursing community and presents findings in our RN Survey. In 2023, we polled more than 800,000 nurses in a dialogue about their careers, satisfaction, and future plans.
The 2024 iteration of this concept, our Nurse Pulse Survey, yielded responses from 1,155 nurses across the nation, painting a detailed picture of the profession. The key findings include:
- Workplace Priorities: A significant 75% of nurses list higher pay as their top priority, with more nurses per patient (68%) following closely, highlighting the critical need for better compensation and staffing.
- Career Satisfaction and Mobility: The survey indicates a restless workforce, with 35% of nurses considering a job change within the year, driven by the quest for better conditions and recognition. Additionally, 80% of nurses foresee no improvement or a worsening situation in their profession.
- Professional Well-being: With only 37% of nurses feeling extremely positive about their impact and a similar number expressing pride in their profession, the survey sheds light on the morale and well-being of nurses as critical areas of concern.
