Physician Home Health Jobs – FAQ
Home health physicians provide medical care to patients in their homes. This can include conducting routine check-ups, managing chronic conditions, prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and coordinating with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Patients may include older adults, individuals with chronic illnesses, those recovering from surgery, or patients with mobility limitations who cannot easily travel to a clinic or hospital.
You must have a medical degree (MD or DO), an active state medical license, and board certification in your specialty. Experience in primary care, geriatrics, palliative care, or internal medicine is often preferred.
Both options are available. Some physicians work full-time providing home visits, while others work part-time or on a per diem basis to supplement their clinical practice.
Responsibilities include conducting in-home patient assessments, managing medications, providing treatment plans, educating patients and families, and collaborating with home health teams for coordinated care.
